Handmade 5BB Loaded Bodied Waggler Float – 190mm Balsa Distance Waggler

This handmade 4BB loaded bodied waggler is designed for anglers who need extra casting stability, positive visibility and reliable bite registration when a slim straight waggler is not quite enough.

At 190mm long, with a 14mm balsa body and a 40mm high-visibility sight tip, this float is a compact but capable distance waggler for lakes, ponds, canals and slower river swims. The buoyant balsa body gives the float extra stability in windy conditions, while the loaded design helps it cast cleanly and accurately, especially when fishing into a breeze or across deeper water.

A bodied loaded waggler comes into its own when you are fishing further out, working along a far-bank shelf, targeting island margins, fishing over depth, or coping with wind, chop or surface tow. Compared with a straight waggler, the wider body gives more buoyancy and stability, helping the float remain visible and preventing it being dragged under too easily by awkward surface movement or undertow.

The float takes 4BB split shot, approximately 2.4g, to cock correctly. Because the float carries much of the casting weight itself, less shot is needed down the line. This can help reduce tangles when casting and allows a cleaner, more controlled presentation, particularly when fishing for bream, tench, carp and roach.

The 40mm sight tip is finished with three black bands, giving clear reference points on the water. These bands make it easier to spot small dips, shy indications and lift bites, which can be especially useful when fishing baits such as corn, pellet, meat, worm or maggot for bream, tench and carp.

Each float is handmade and finished individually by Ian Lewis, combining traditional natural materials with a practical tried and tested design. A lovely choice when you want a waggler that casts well, sits confidently and gives clear bite indication in more demanding conditions.
