Signature Avon – Handmade River Fishing Float
My Signature Avon is a traditional river float with a distinctive balsa-and-cork body, built around a cane stem and designed for close to medium-range trotting.
Slim through the body and sensitive in use, it sits neatly in the flow while still offering enough stability to cope with typical river conditions. The combination of natural cork and balsa gives the float both character and practical buoyancy, while the cane stem provides the strength and traditional feel associated with classic handmade river floats.
The pattern is particularly well suited to trotting for species such as roach, chub, dace, grayling and perch, and makes a very good general-purpose Avon when you want something more substantial than a stick float without moving to a much heavier pattern.
The float is attached top and bottom in the traditional manner, giving excellent control when holding back, checking the float or guiding the bait through a swim.
Each Signature Avon is individually handmade in England using natural materials, so there will always be small variations in grain, colour and finish. That individuality is part of the character of a genuinely handmade fishing float.

Why choose the Signature Avon?
It combines the control of a traditional Avon with a slim, sensitive profile and a distinctive natural-material construction. It is equally at home being used as an everyday fishing float or sitting alongside more traditional tackle as a beautifully made piece of river-fishing kit.
Each float is handmade, finished and checked individually in my workshop
