Small, sensitive and deceptively capable, the Carp Margin Dart has become one of my most popular specialist carp floats. Co-developed with customer Alan Lawrence, it quickly proved its worth — producing double-figure carp including two fish over 20lb during its first serious testing sessions.
At just 2.5 inches long, this compact float is purpose built for one of the most exciting and overlooked methods in carp fishing — fishing tight to the margins and close to bankside structure. As one customer wrote: ''I particularly like it for the lift method, in fairly close, because of how well it cocks perfectly vertically at any height from the body to the tip when tightening up. One of the lakes I fish has quite a strong “drift” and I tend to use tungsten paste around a float stop, a few inches from the hook, sufficient in weight to tighten up on and is buoyant enough that it won’t be pulled under by the effect of drift on the line.''
Its streamlined tapered balsa body offers excellent stability and precise presentation, while the highly visible black and white banded cane stem is designed to reveal the slightest movement, hesitation or delicate lift bite.
Despite its compact size, the 5BB loading (approx. 2g) makes it ideal for presenting pellets, corn, meat or other single hookbaits accurately along near margins, along reed beds, under overhanging trees or tight to lily pads.

Hi Ian, Those mini darts I acquired from you are just perfect for fishing the margins for carp. Using one as a slider, and casting tight to a overhanging bush, helped me catch four carp from 14lb 14oz to 22lb 12oz. Strong and perfect for this type of fishing!
Brilliant addition to the tackle box. The construction of the float with the stripes mean I can set this float in the margin with such accuracy that even the most delicate of bites can be seen. Its so good it's almost unfair on the fish lol. Thank you Ian, again, I'm mega impressed.

A great looking and well made float which is also a perfect length and weight for margin fishing for crucians and tench.Very sensitive for shy crucians but also gives lift bite indication when required too for tench.My only float when using my long rod and centerpin reel.tight lines !!
Excellent margins float and just the right weight for effectively fishing lillies a rod's length out. Clearly shows both delicate Crucian bites as well as lift bites from Crucian and Tench.
There is nothing quite like sitting by a quiet lake and casting one of Ian’s brilliant floats next to some lily pads. Had a lovely day catching; Wild Carp, Roach, Rudd and Bream. Fabulous all road float that genuinely adds to the enjoyment of a day’s fishing. I’m just terrified of losing one so I keep buying spares.
